I am forever inspired by the relationship of the clay forms I create to the environments they exist in. This has been true of the functional work I have been making over the past 10 years, as I consider the homes it will inhabit and the hands that will hold it. I believe that it is this very intimate relationship between the vessel and its user that has inspired many of my considerations as I move into a more sculptural approach. Texture and touch influence all the work I make.

Nature has always been a part of my work. I grew up on the prairies and often have seen the inspiration of big skies and wide open places expressed through my work. I now live in Nova Scotia and am working on my undergrad at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. My new surroundings have opened up new ideas for me and I am excited to see how the ocean and all it contains will start to play a role in my work.
